હું આઈડીઆર નોર્થઈસ્ટ ફેલો હોવા ઉપરાંત મેઘાલયના શિલોંગમાં સ્થિત એક બિનનફાકારક સંસ્થા, ફેઈથ ફાઉન્ડેશનમાં કોમ્યુનિકેશન્સ ડેવલપર તરીકે પણ કામ કરું છું. આ સંસ્થા બાળ યૌન શોષણ અટકાવવા અને તેમાંથી બચાવી લેવાયેલા બાળકોને સહાય પૂરી પાડવા પર ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત કરતી આ રાજ્યની કેટલીક બિનનફાકારક સંસ્થાઓમાંની એક છે.<\/p>

અમારી પાસે કાઉન્સેલર્સ (સલાહકારો) ની એક ટીમ છે જે બચાવી લેવાયેલા બાળકોને મનોસામાજિક સહાય પૂરી પાડે છે, તેમના પરિવારો સાથે સત્રો યોજે છે અને બાળકો અને કિશોરોના પુનર્વસન માટે ચાઈલ્ડ વેલ્ફેર કમિટી (બાળ કલ્યાણ સમિતિ) સાથે મળીને કામ કરે છે.<\/p>

બાળકો અને તેમના પરિવારો, ખચકાટ અને શરમ છોડીને પોતાના અનુભવો વિષે ખુલીને વાત કરવા, પૂરતી સલામતી અનુભવી શકે એ માટે તેમને સહાનુભૂતિની અને સમયાંતરે સતત વાતચીતની જરૂર રહે છે. કાઉન્સેલર શેરિલ લિંડા રિંટાથિયાંગ કહે છે કે એ માટે, “અમે સક્રિય શ્રવણ તકનિકો, રમત-આધારિત ઉપચાર પદ્ધતિઓ અને પરસ્પર વિશ્વાસ નિર્માણ કરતી પ્રવૃત્તિઓનો ઉપયોગ કરીએ છીએ.”<\/p>

પરંતુ લોકોને તેમના આઘાત અને દુઃખદ ઘટનાઓ વિશે વાત કરતા સાંભળવું ઘણીવાર ભાવનાત્મક રીતે અસ્વસ્થ કરી મૂકે છે. કાઉન્સેલરો સ્વીકારે છે કે આ કામ ઊંડો સંતોષ આપનાર હોવા છતાં માનસિક બોજમાં પરિણમે છે, જે સમય જતાં વધતો જ જાય છે.<\/p>

ઉદાહરણ તરીકે, કાઉન્સેલિંગ સત્રો પૂરા થઈ ગયા પછી પણ અમુક કિસ્સાઓ લાંબા સમય સુધી તેમના મનમાં રહે છે, જેનાથી તેમને ભાવનાત્મક અસર પહોંચે છે અને તેમના વ્યાવસાયિક અને વ્યક્તિગત જીવન વચ્ચેના સંતુલનને ખલેલ પહોંચે છે. એક કાઉન્સેલર કહે છે, “ઘણી રાતો એવી પણ હોય છે જ્યારે હું કોઈ એક બાળક વિશે વિચાર્યા કરું છું. આ વિચારોને રોકવાનું તમારા વશમાં હોતું નથી. એને તમે એક સ્વિચની માફક તાત્કાલિક બંધ કરી શકતા નથી.”<\/p>

કાઉન્સેલર્સ મહિલાઓ હોવાથી તેઓ લિંગ આધારિત પૂર્વગ્રહનો પણ સામનો કરે છે કારણ કે સમુદાય મહિલાઓ ફક્ત નિષ્ક્રિય શ્રોતાઓ બની રહે, તેઓ માત્ર વાત સાંભળે એવી અપેક્ષા રાખે છે. ઘણા પરિવારો કાઉન્સેલર્સની દરમિયાનગીરીને કૌટુંબિક બાબતોમાં દખલગીરી રૂપે જુએ છે, ખાસ કરીને આંતર-પારિવારિક યૌન શોષણના (પરિવારના જ કોઈ સભ્ય દ્વારા યૌન શોષણ કરવામાં આવ્યું હોય એવા) કિસ્સાઓમાં. વધુમાં, આવા કિસ્સાઓની ફરિયાદ દાખલ ન કરવા પ્રોત્સાહિત કરતી<\/a> કઠોર ધાર્મિક માન્યતાઓ દ્વારા પરિસ્થિતિ વધુ ગૂંચવણભરી બને છે અને ગુનેગારોને રક્ષણ મળી રહે છે.<\/p>

મેઘાલયમાં સામાજિક ક્ષેત્રમાં માનસિક આરોગ્યસંભાળ હજી પણ પ્રારંભિક તબક્કામાં હોવાથી કાઉન્સેલરો પાસે એવા સહાયક જૂથ નથી જ્યાં તેઓ તેમના પડકારો વિષે વાત કરી શકે. વધુમાં ઘરમાં તેમની લાગણીઓ વિશે ખુલીને વાતચીત ભાગ્યે જ થઈ શકે છે. પરિણામે, તેઓ તેમની મુશ્કેલીઓની ચર્ચા કરવા માટે તેમના સાથીદારો પર આધાર રાખે છે.<\/p>

એક કેસવર્કર રોઝા બદરીશિશા કુર્બાહ કહે છે, “સાંજે ચાલવા જવાથી પણ મને મારું મન હળવું કરવામાં મદદ મળે છે.” બીજી બાજુ, કાઉન્સેલર એટિલિન વાનિયાંગ કહે છે, “જ્યારે મારું મન ભરાઈ જાય છે ત્યારે હું આ બાળકો માટે પ્રાર્થના કરું છું, અને એના પછી મને થોડું સારું લાગે છે.”<\/p>

બીજા કેટલાક એવા પણ છે જેઓ સંગીત સાંભળે છે, સંગીત તેમનું ધ્યાન બીજે દોરે છે અને તેમના વ્યાવસાયિક અને વ્યકતિગત જીવનને તત્પૂરતું, થોડા સમય માટે અલગ કરવામાં મદદરૂપ થાય છે.<\/p>

કોઈની જિંદગીમાં સકારાત્મક પરિવર્તન લાવવાનો સંતોષ તેમને તેમનું કામ ચાલુ રાખવામાં મદદ કરે છે, પરંતુ તેઓ કામના સ્થળે કેટલાક નાના-નાના ફેરફારો કરવાની હિમાયત કરે છે.<\/p>

એટિલિન કહે છે, “ટ્રોમા-ઈન્ફોર્મ્ડ કેર (ટ્રોમા-આધારિત કાળજી), વર્તન વ્યવસ્થાપન અને તણાવ વ્યવસ્થાપન વિષયક કૌશલ્ય વિકાસ કાર્યશાળાઓથી અમને ખૂબ ફાયદો થશે.” વધુમાં તેઓ આ ક્ષેત્રમાં તેમના અનુભવો અને તેની તેમના પર શી અસર થાય છે એ અંગેની ચર્ચા કરવા માટે માસિક ભાવનાત્મક ડિબ્રીફિંગ સત્રોનું આયોજન કરવાનું સૂચન કરે છે. મેઘાલયમાં માનસિક આરોગ્યસંભાળ ક્ષેત્રનો વિસ્તાર થઈ રહ્યો છે ત્યારે તેઓ રાજ્યના બીજા વ્યાવસાયિકો સાથે સંકળાઈ શકે અને સામૂહિક રીતે શીખી શકે એ માટે એક મંચ પૂરો પાડવામાં આવે એવી પણ તેઓ આશા રાખે છે.<\/p>

દરમિયાન આ કાઉન્સેલરોને આરામ મળી રહે, તેમની સર્જનાત્મકતા વિકસે, તેમની કદર થાય એવું વાતાવરણ મળી રહે અને માત્ર ‘તમે કેમ છો?’ એટલું પૂછનાર પણ કોઈ હોય તો એ મદદરૂપ થઈ શકે.<\/p>

રોઝા કહે છે, “અમારે આરામ કરવાનું યાદ રાખવું જોઈએ અને એકબીજાને યાદ અપાવવું જોઈએ કે માનસિક રીતે થકવી નાખતા કિસ્સાઓ પછી (અમે પોતે સ્વસ્થ થઈ શકીએ એ માટે) આરામ લેવો યોગ્ય છે.”<\/p>
