{"id":1901,"date":"2020-07-18T11:00:39","date_gmt":"2020-07-18T11:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idronline.org\/2020\/12\/23\/integrating-individual-and-organizational-well-being\/"},"modified":"2025-11-10T08:00:18","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T02:30:18","slug":"integrating-individual-and-organizational-well-being","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/idronline.org\/kn-in\/integrating-individual-and-organizational-well-being\/","title":{"rendered":"Integrating individual and organizational well-being"},"content":{"rendered":"<?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><p>At a 2017 event hosted by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wellbeing-project.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Wellbeing Project<\/a>&nbsp;(TWP), Gabriela Gandel, executive director of the social entrepreneur network&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/impacthub.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Impact Hub<\/a>, expressed the need to address dysfunction and high rates of burnout across the social change sector, through the development of well-being at the organizational level. Her comments resonated with everyone in the room and led TWP to engage with hundreds of people who echoed a desire to learn how social change organizations can develop well-being initiatives.<\/p><p>We continue to hear a strong desire for greater organizational well-being in the social sector, but the need is also plain to see. Institutional dysfunction has been making headlines globally for years, most recently in a series of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/saveppgny.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">open letters<\/a>&nbsp;to the board of Planned Parenthood. The letters outline how financial wrongdoing, abusive and discriminatory behavior, disregard for staff well-being, and a culture of silence has resulted in the erosion of accountability toward the organization&rsquo;s mission and values.<\/p><p><em>This is an excerpt from the article<\/em> <strong><a
