२०१९ मध्ये, मी काम करत असलेल्या एका सामाजिक संस्थेने महाराष्ट्रातील उस्मानाबादमधील गावांमध्ये महिला शेतकरी आणि कृषी-उद्योजकांचे एक नमुना सर्वेक्षण केले. संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात एकूण ५,००० महिलांचे सर्वेक्षण करण्यापूर्वी जिल्ह्यातील १०० महिलांचे सर्वेक्षण केले.<\/p>

नेतृत्वाच्या पातळीवर त्या कुठे आहेत, म्हणजे एखादी गावपातळीवरच्या नेता आहेत की जिल्हास्तरीय नेता आहेत हे समजून घेण्यासाठी आमच्याकडे एक मोठी प्रश्नावली होती. आमचा असा विचार होता की याचा आधारे येणाऱ्या निष्कर्षांच्या आधारे आम्ही त्यांची नेतृत्व क्षमता वाढवण्यासाठी मदत करू. उदाहरणार्थ, जर कोणी आता त्यांच्या समस्या गाव-स्तरीय अधिकाऱ्यांकडे मांडण्यास सक्षम असतील, तर त्यांना जिल्हा स्तरावर समस्या मांडण्यासाठी सक्षम आम्ही करू.<\/p>

आम्ही त्यांना पाठवलेल्या अनेक प्रश्नांची उत्तरे देण्यासाठीत्यांना त्यांच्या बचतीबद्दलचा तपशील भरणे आवश्यक होते. गेल्या अनेक वर्षांपासून, आम्ही आमच्या महिला नेत्यांना भविष्यासाठी बचत करण्यासाठी प्रोत्साहित करत आहोत. हे आर्थिक उद्दिष्ट साध्य करण्यासाठी आमच्या महिला नेत्या किती उत्साहीआहेत हे आम्हाला जाणून घ्यायचे होते. आम्हाला असे आढळले की त्या बँकेतील बचत खाती आणि मुदत ठेवींमध्ये बचत करत आहेत, एलआयसी पॉलिसी खरेदी करत आहेत आणि त्यांच्याकडीलरोकड सोने खरेदी करण्यासाठी वापरत आहेत.स्त्रिया त्यांच्या कडील सोन्या खेरीज बाकी बचतीचे सर्व तपशील आमच्यासोबत शेअर करण्यास उत्सुक होत्या,मात्रजेव्हा आम्ही त्यांना सोन्या बाबत संकोच का करता असे विचारले तेव्हा त्यांनी उत्तर दिले, “आमच्याकडे किती सोने आहे हे जाणून घेण्याची तुम्हाला का गरज आहे?” जसजसे आम्ही आमचे संभाषण चालू ठेवले आणि तपशीलातगेलो, तसतसे आम्हाला समजले की यापैकी अनेक स्त्रिया त्यांच्या पतीच्या नकळत सोन्यात बचत करत आहेत. काहींनी सांगितले की त्यात्यांच्या मुलांच्या लग्नासाठी बचत म्हणून त्या असे करत आहेत आणि त्यांच्या पतींना याचे महत्व समजत नाही म्हणून त्यांच्या पासून लपवून त्या हे अनेकदा करतात.<\/p>

आम्ही तात्काळ अंतिम सर्वेक्षणातून सोन्याबद्दलचा प्रश्न वगळला कारण आमच्या महिलांना संकोच वाटेल अशी माहिती आम्हला गोळा करायची नव्हती. आम्हाला एक प्रश्न कमी करावा लागला, पण या सर्वेक्षणातून बरेच काही शिकायला मिळाले.<\/p>
