मी गुजरातमधील साबरकांठा जिल्ह्यातील प्रेमपूर गावात राहतो. 30 वर्ष सामाजिक क्षेत्रात काम केल्यानंतर, मी नोकरी शोधत आहे. या क्षेत्रात आधी काम करत असणाऱ्या माझ्या अनेक मित्रांनी मला दुसरीकडे नोकरी शोधण्याचा सल्ला दिला आहे.<\/p>

मी 22 वर्षांचा असताना दिशा नावाच्या संस्थेबरोबर फिल्डवर्कर म्हणून काम करायला सुरुवात केली. नंतर, दिशा तर्फे चालवल्या जाणाऱ्या गुजरात खेत कामदार युनियन (GALU) चा सेक्रेटरी झालो. त्यावेळी, युनियनमधे जवळपास 585 सदस्य होते. 18 वर्षे काम केल्यानंतर, निधीच्या कमतरतेमुळे आम्हाला का बंद करावे लागले. माझी नोकरी सुटली तेव्हा, युनियन मधे 59,400 सदस्य होते. आणि त्या संस्थेचे स्वतंत्र अस्तित्व प्रस्थापित झाले होते.<\/p>

पाणी आणि सेंद्रिय शेतीवर काम करणाऱ्या एका संस्थेने मला सांगितले कि, त्यांच्या गुजरातमधील कामासाठी मिळणारा निधी कमी झाला आहे, आणि त्यामुळे आम्ही नवीन लोकांना नोकरी देऊ शकत नाही. आदिवासी शेतकऱ्यांसाठी काम करणाऱ्या संस्थेने मला सांगितले कि त्यांच्याकडे माझ्यासाठी योग्य असा प्रोजेक्ट नाही. सरकारी प्रोजेक्टवर काम करणाऱ्या अजून एका संस्थेने मला स्पष्ट सांगितले कि, “तुमचे आता वय झाले आहे. आम्ही तरुणांना नोकरी देतो.”<\/p>
