IDR Answers is an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered search and analysis enginethat provides you with wide-ranging information on diverse topics, and aims to deliver clear, actionable insights to help you with problem-solving, decision-making and draws on the collective wisdom on IDR (defined below), comprising more than 2,000 pieces of insights from over 1,500 contributors across India.
IDR Answers is offered by India Development Review (IDR), which is registered as Forum for Knowledge and Social Impact, a Section 8 company registered under the Indian Companies Act 2013, having its office at 401A Mon Repos, Bandstand, Bandra West, Mumbai – 400050.
IDR Answers is powered through application programming interfaces by Apurva.ai (Apurva) (as provided by [Kenpath Technologies Private Limited]), which is an open innovation platform driven by AI technologies, enabling social change leaders to amplify the collective wisdom of their networks. Apurva is an open source project created and maintained by C4EC Foundation, a Section 8 company registered under the Indian Companies Act 2013, having its office at No. 86, 7th Cross Road, 4th ‘B’ Block, Koramangala, Bengaluru – 560034.
Before using IDR Answers, please take a moment to read and understand these Terms of Use (Terms). The terms ‘you’ and ‘your’ refer to anyone who accesses or uses IDR Answers. The terms ‘we’, ‘us’, and ‘our’ refer to IDR.
By selecting the checkbox which says ‘By signing in you are accepting our Terms and conditions’ and by accessing or using IDR Answers, including the application programming interface, software, tools, data, documentation, and website, you agree to abide by these Terms, as may be amended from time to time. These Terms along with the IDR Privacy Policy and the IDR Answers Privacy Policy, which governs our processing of any personal data, form a legally binding agreement between you and us. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, we request you to please refrain from using IDR Answers and discontinue any existing access or use of IDR Answers.
1. What Does IDR Answers Do?
a. IDR Answers: Is an interface that is powered by Apurva to draw on the collective wisdom that sits on IDR (www.idronline.org).
IDR Answers is an experimental generative AI tool powered by a third party. Outputs (as defined below) generated by IDR Answers are automated and may not always be accurate. The Outputs should not be interpreted as IDR Answers’ views. Users are advised and encouraged to exercise their own judgment and not rely solely on the Outputs of IDR Answers.
b. Purpose: IDR Answers is made available to you as a prototype, with the purpose of allowing you to harness the collective wisdom of IDR’s content. Intended for use as a digital public good, IDR Answers is currently available to you free of charge.
c. Knowledge Building: Upon logging into IDR Answers, you can access all of IDR’s content.
IDR Answers generates insights only from the content that sits on IDR. The querying interface can be used to ask questions and provide Input in the form of queries (Input) in order to receive responses encompassing insights, summaries, analysis and questions, all linked to IDR (Output).
2. Users
A user refers to a natural person who is registered (as described in paragraph 3(b) below) with IDR Answers to access and use IDR Answers for specific purposes, including:
a. Making Inputs: Engaging with the IDR Answers interface to seek answers, insights, and information on social impact from the collective knowledge pool.
b. Generating Insights: Leveraging IDR Answers’ capabilities to generate insights based on Inputs and interactions.
Each user is bound by these Terms and is responsible for adhering to the terms, policies, and guidelines set forth herein.
3. Your Use and Access of IDR Answers
a. Eligibility and Authorization: You must be at least 18 years old and legally competent to enter into a contract. By selecting the checkbox which says ‘By signing in you are accepting to our Terms and conditions’ or by accessing and using IDR Answers, you affirm and warrant that you agree to these Terms, and that these Terms are legally binding upon them and you.
b. Account Credentials and Security: To access IDR Answers, you are required to log in using either your LinkedIn, Google or Facebook credentials. It is your responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials and to monitor and take responsibility for any and all activities carried out using your account. Sharing your access credentials with other individuals is strictly prohibited, and you will be held accountable for any unauthorized use of your account. In case of suspected unauthorized account activity, you must promptly notify us.
c. Compliance and Usage: You are granted the non-exclusive right to access and utilize IDR Answers solely in accordance with these Terms and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Any use of IDR Answers must align with its intended purpose and not violate any applicable laws.
d. Feedback and Suggestions: We highly value your feedback. Should you choose to provide feedback, comments, ideas, proposals, or suggestions (Feedback) for improving IDR Answers, you acknowledge that we may utilize this input to enhance the platform.
e. Usage Restrictions: When you use IDR Answers, you join a vast community of change leaders using IDR Answers, which involves a certain level of trust. Users are expected to respect that trust and be responsible about their usage of IDR Answers. When accessing and using IDR Answers, you shall refrain from activities including but not limited to the following:
i. Transmitting any personal data;
ii. Engaging in activities that infringe upon, misappropriate, or violate the intellectual property rights, privacy, other proprietary rights or any other rights of any individual or entity;
iii. Falsely representing that Outputs generated by IDR Answers are of human origin when they are not;
iv. Uploading, sharing, hosting, displaying, modifying, publishing, transmitting, storing, updating or promoting any content or information that:
- belongs to another person and to which the user does not have any right;
- is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another’s privacy including, bodily privacy, insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, relating or encouraging money laundering or gambling, or an online game that causes user harm, or promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion or caste with the intent to incite violence;
- deceives or misleads the addressee about the origin of the message or knowingly and intentionally communicates any misinformation or information which is patently false and untrue or misleading in nature;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defense, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states, or public order, or causes incitement to the commission of any cognisable offence, or prevents investigation of any offence, or is insulting other nation;
- is in the nature of an online game that is not verified as a permissible online game;
- is in the nature of advertisement or surrogate advertisement or promotion of an online game that is not a permissible online game, or of any online gaming intermediary offering such an online game; or
- is offensive, discriminatory, defamatory, libelous, unlawful or that a reasonable person could deem to be objectionable, offensive, indecent, pornographic, harassing, threatening, vulgar, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or otherwise inappropriate;
v. Using IDR Answers in any manner that is harmful to minors, or in any manner that violates these Terms;
vi. Violating any local, state, national, or international law, regulations, or ethical standards;
vii. Impersonating another person or entity, or falsely claiming an affiliation with any person or entity, or accessing the IDR Answers accounts of others;
viii. Interfering with the proper functioning of IDR Answers or attempting unauthorized access to its systems or networks;
ix. Uploading or distributing any viruses, malware, or other malicious code;
x. Using IDR Answers for any illegal, fraudulent, or malicious activities;
xi. Violating any other usage policies that may be communicated to you periodically;
xii. Reverse-engineering, decompiling, disassembling or otherwise accessing the source code for any software that may be used to operate IDR Answers.
g. Third-party Software and Services: The underlying software that powers IDR Answers and any other use of third-party software, services, or products that may be provided in conjunction with IDR Answers are governed by the terms provided by those third parties. We hold no responsibility for such third-party software/products/services, and encourage you to read their associated terms and privacy policies.
4. Intellectual Property
a. Rights to Content: You can provide the Input and receive insights generated by IDR Answers based on the Input. All content available on IDR Answers, including but not limited to the Output (to the extent allowed under law) and information used by IDR Answers to generate the Output (Output and information used by IDR Answers to generate the Output, collectively Content), is owned by IDR. We hereby grant to you a limited right to use the Content solely in accordance with these Terms.
You will retain ownership of your Input and the Feedback, and grant IDR with a worldwide, non- exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, fully paid right and license to use and capture your Input and Feedback, as provided under these Terms of Use. You waive your reversionary rights in relation to the license granted herein. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that any Inputs you provide to IDR Answers, and your use of the resulting Output, comply with applicable laws, regulations, third party rights and our policies.
We believe in the free flow of information and the Output is therefore hereby licensed by us to you under Creative Commons license CC-BY-SA 4.0. This means you can use Output for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided you do so in accordance with applicable law, third party rights, comply with these Terms, and attribute its usage to IDR Answers as per the guidelines of CC-BY-SA 4.0 by using the language “This content is generated by IDR Answers which is a generative AI tool made available by Forum for Knowledge and Social Impact, India, and powered by Apurva.ai, which is created and maintained by C4EC Foundation, India”.
b. Consent to Capturing Interactions: By utilizing IDR Answers’ services, you consent to contribute Input, with the explicit purpose of generating Outputs through the IDR Answers platform.
IDR Answers will capture Inputs asked by all users and the Outputs provided by IDR Answers and powered by Apurva. These interactions are important because they a) help us understand user requirements and design better content based on these Inputs, and b) build a strong knowledge-driven ecosystem drawing upon the Inputs being asked by diverse communities.
However, IDR Answers will not use any of your Inputs or any other data provided to train the model. The model will only be trained on IDR’s content.
c. Accuracy. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are rapidly advancing fields of study. The accuracy, reliability, safety, and usefulness of IDR Answers are sought. However, given the probabilistic nature of machine learning, the use of IDR Answers may occasionally result in incorrect Output. You are advised to exercise discretion and evaluate the accuracy of any Output based on your specific use case, including conducting human review of the Output.
IDR Answers is an experimental generative AI tool powered by a third party. Outputs generated by IDR Answers are automated and may not always be accurate. The Outputs should not be interpreted as IDR Answers’ views. Users are advised and encouraged to exercise their own judgment and not rely solely on the Outputs of IDR Answers. In particular, when you use IDR Answers, you understand and agree that:
- Output may not always be accurate. You should not rely on the Output as a sole source of truth or factual information, or as a substitute for professional advice.
- IDR will not be liable for any errors or inaccuracies in the Output generated by IDR Answers.
- You must evaluate Output for accuracy and appropriateness for your use case, including using human review as appropriate, before using or sharing Output.
- The Output generated by IDR Answers is not a replacement or substitute for advice from a qualified professional.
- You must not use any Output relating to a person for any purpose that could have a legal or material impact on that person, such as making credit, educational, employment, housing, insurance, legal, medical, or other important decisions about them.
- The Output provided may be incomplete, incorrect, biased or offensive and does not represent our views. If Output references any third-party products or services, it doesn’t mean that we are endorsing the third party or that the third party endorses/is affiliated with us.
- Given the nature of generative AI tools, other users may also create and use their own Output that is similar to yours, based on the Input provided. Given this, you agree that such other users can use their own individually created Output for their own internal business and commercial purposes.
- We shall have no responsibility or liability to you for the infringement of the rights of any third party or applicable law in your use of any Output.
d. Trademarks and Copyright: All text, information, graphics, trademarks, service marks, logos, and branding displayed on IDR Answers are the property of IDR/their respective owners. You may not use, reproduce, or modify any such content without the express permission of the respective owners.
e. No Transfer of Ownership: Nothing in these Terms shall be construed as transferring ownership of IDR Answers or Apurva, their technology, or their underlying intellectual property to you or any other user.
5. Privacy and Security
a. Handling of Content: Our employees, contractors, subcontractors, vendors or service providers, may have access to your Inputs, including providers of hosting services, cloud services, and other information technology services providers, and web analytics services, among others. Pursuant to our instructions, these parties will access, process, or store your information only in the course of performing their duties to us.
b. Technical and Organizational Security Measures: We implement appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to secure IDR’s content from accidental loss and unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure. While we strive to ensure the security of content, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
c. Permissions and Authorizations: By recording and/or uploading Inputs to IDR Answers, users must ensure that they do not infringe upon the rights of any individuals or entities, including right to privacy & intellectual property rights.

6. Indemnification; Disclaimers of Warranty; Limitation of Liability
a. Indemnity: You hereby indemnify, defend and hold harmless IDR and all of our trustees, advisors, officers, employees, coordinators, owners, agents, information providers, affiliates, licensors and licensees (collectively, the Indemnified Parties) from and against any and all liability and costs, including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees, incurred by the Indemnified Parties in connection with any claim arising out of (i) the Input and the Output generated through such Input; (ii) your use of IDR Answers; (iii) your violation of rights of any third party; or (iv) any breach by you of these Terms. You shall cooperate as fully as reasonably required in the defense of any such claim.
We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you. You agree not to settle any matter in which IDR is named as a defendant and/or for which you have indemnity obligations without prior written consent from IDR. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you of any such claim, action or proceeding upon becoming aware of it.
b. DISCLAIMER: IDR ANSWERS IS PROVIDED “AS IS.” EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PROHIBITED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES AND LICENSORS MAKE NO WARRANTIES (EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE) WITH RESPECT TO IDR ANSWERS, AND DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF ANY COURSE OF DEALING OR TRADE USAGE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT YOUR USE OF IDR ANSWERS WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ACCURATE OR ERROR FREE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT WILL BE SECURE OR NOT LOST OR ALTERED. WHILE WE HAVE SAFEGUARDS IN PLACE, IDR ANSWERS MAY OCCASIONALLY GENERATE INCORRECT OR MISLEADING INFORMATION AND PRODUCE OFFENSIVE OR BIASED CONTENT. IDR ANSWERS IS NOT INTENDED TO GIVE ADVICE, PROVIDE OPINIONS, OR SHARE INFORMATION BEYOND ITS PROGRAMMING. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE AS TO THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, VALIDITY OR RELIABILITY OF THE OUTPUT GENERATED THROUGH IDR ANSWERS AND DO NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY ARISING IN ANY WAY FROM YOUR USE OF THE OUTPUT OR ANY OMMISSIONS OR ERRORS CONTAINED IN THE OUTPUT.
c. Limitation of Liability: We strive to provide a reliable and accurate resource, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free operation. Therefore, we shall not be held liable for any damages or losses arising from the use or inability to use IDR Answers. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages related to the use of IDR Answers.
7. Modifications and Termination
a. We reserve the right to modify or terminate IDR Answers or any part thereof at any time without prior notice.
b. In case of any non-compliance with the IDR Privacy Policy or these Terms, we reserve the right to suspend/terminate your access to IDR Answers immediately or remove non-compliant information or both.
c. We may also modify these Terms from time to time as we are continuously working to develop and improve our services. We may make changes to these Terms due to:
- Changes to the law or regulatory requirements.
- Security or safety reasons.
- Circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
- Changes we make in the usual course of developing our services.
- To adapt to new technologies.
We will notify you, periodically and at least on an annual basis, of any changes to these Terms. It is your responsibility to review the updated Terms. By continuing to use IDR Answers after any modifications, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
Upon termination, we may preserve information made available by you in relation to the Services under these Terms as required under applicable law to use IDR Answers after any modifications, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
a. These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Disputes, if any, will be resolved amicably, failing which the same will be compulsorily referred to a sole arbitrator in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The venue and seat of arbitration shall be Mumbai, India. The arbitration shall be conducted in the English language.
b. Subject to the above, any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai, India.
9. General Terms
a. These Terms do not create a partnership, joint venture or agency relationship between you and IDR or any of its affiliates. IDR and you are independent contractors and neither party will have the power to bind the other or to incur obligations on the other’s behalf without the other party’s prior written consent.
b. If any provision of these Terms is deemed invalid or unenforceable, the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not be affected. The invalid or unenforceable provision will be replaced by a valid and enforceable provision that most closely aligns with the intent of the original provision.
