Akbar Mehfuz Alam is a senior manager for government relations and policy engagement at Sightsavers India. He has worked on advancing eye health, disability inclusion, education, and partnership development with states including Odisha, where he led India’s first universal eye health programme in partnership with the state government. Akbar has two decades of experience in the development and sustainability sector, and has previously worked with organisations such as CAPART, CEFI, and Canada World Youth on rural planning, disaster management, microfinance, youth development, and early childhood care and intervention.
