Ministry of Skill Development launches fellowship in partnership with nine IIMs

Livelihoods: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has launched the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) programme in partnership with nine Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Visakhapatnam, Udaipur, Nagpur, Ranchi, and Jammu.

The MSDE said that the two-year academic programme includes a component of on-ground practical experience with district administrations. Fellows under MGNF will acquire academic expertise and technical competency in understanding the overall skill ecosystem, all while being attached to district skill committees (DSC).

The fellowship programme was launched under the aegis of SANKALP (Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion), which is a World Bank loan assisted programme to strengthen the district skill administration (DSA) and the DSCs.

Meanwhile, MSDE has also partnered with the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) to conduct capacity building programmes for district officials from the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep.
