No safety in sugarcane town
Two sisters, working as migrant labourers on sugarcane farms, share how they are subjected to casteist slurs and unwanted advances while fetching water.
Gazal Malik is a policy research practitioner working towards addressing child labour, bonded labour, and gender inequalities in global supply chains. A trained sociologist from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, JNU, New Delhi, her expertise lies in assessing socio-economic vulnerabilities of marginalised groups and human rights risk indicators in three key sectors: Agriculture, the garment industry, and the seafood industry in South Asia.
