India’s COVID-19 response limited by strong urban and tech bias
India's response to the second wave of COVID-19 glosses over the lack of infrastructure and technology know-how in rural India.
Alokparna Sengupta is the deputy director for Humane Society International/India. She has worked in the animal protection movement for close to a decade. She has worked with the government to ban the testing of animals for cosmetics, and the import of animal tested cosmetics in India. She has also been on various stakeholder committees regarding the development of animal friendly policies. Alokparna started her career in animal welfare as a volunteer at the Blue Cross in Hyderabad, and has also worked at Thomson Reuters. She has an MSc in Biotechnology from Osmania University, Hyderabad.
