India’s COVID-19 response limited by strong urban and tech bias
India's response to the second wave of COVID-19 glosses over the lack of infrastructure and technology know-how in rural India.
Amitav Virmani is the founder and CEO of The Education Alliance. Prior to this, he was the India country director for ARK, a UK based NGO, where he was responsible for launching programmes around school leadership, English literacy, school vouchers and school quality assesments. Amitav earlier worked for Bristol Myers Squibb in Princeton and has also been involved with his family-run business since 1994. Amitav studied Economics at St. Stephens College, Delhi University and has an MBA from UNC Chapel Hill, USA. He sits on the board of Central Square Foundation, AVPN India and several other non/for-profit organisations in India. Amitav is also an Aspen Fellow, an Ashoka Fellow and an N/Core Fellow.
