India’s COVID-19 response limited by strong urban and tech bias
India's response to the second wave of COVID-19 glosses over the lack of infrastructure and technology know-how in rural India.
Angdui Phuntsok is a chief artisan and woodcrafter who works in building construction in Spiti valley. At the age of 20, he took up carpentry and learned to make windows, door frames, and wooden pillars for traditional mud houses. Angdui is also skilled in stone masonry, an art he picked up from Spitian mud-house builders and artisans. He spends his summers building mud houses, consulting, and helping locals with renovation work, and devotes his time to carpentry during winters.
