Kaaren Mathias is an associate professor of public health at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and a senior advisor at Burans in Uttarakhand, India. A public health physician working at the intersection of community health systems, social justice, and mental health, Kaaren has more than 20 years of experience as a community-based practitioner. She has previously worked in Cambodia, Colombia, and India, and with organisations including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
