A safety net for our mahua trees
Mahua trees in Jonha, Jharkhand are not grown but passed down over generations. Local families are adopting new ways to collect flowers for a better harvest and to ensure the trees’ longevity.
Ashran Beck is a resident of Dhipa Toli in Jharkhand’s Jonha region. She has been harvesting mahua, a livelihood mainstay in the area, for the past 50 years. Since 2024, Ashran has been working with Wild Harvest to collect food-grade mahua.
