What does systems change look like in practice?
Lessons from a nonprofit’s attempts to change systems that impact children with developmental disabilities.

Koyeli Sengupta is a developmental paediatrician and trainer in programmes for building awareness and skills in diagnoses and interventions for developmental disabilities at Ummeed Child Development Center. Koyeli’s interest in research stems from a need to evaluate capacity-building initiatives for caregivers and professionals and add to the limited evidence base for such programmes in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). She believes that interventions need to be rooted in local contexts and that publishing work conducted in LMICs amplifies diverse, oft-unheard voices that can benefit a global readership.
