S Mathu Shalini leads operations at the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS), where her team works closely with state governments and complementary partners to implement specific interventions aimed at improving development outcomes. She is a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who served in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Following her stint in the civil services, she joined Khan Academy India, where she led and scaled programs for improving quality education for children in government schools. She has also been a consultant for UNICEF’s Office of Global Insights and Policy.
