Growing a forest to save a flower
In Assam’s Jorhat district, a farmer has transformed his backyard into a forest to protect kopou, the state flower, as deforestation threatens its survival.

Mithu Gogoi is a farmer from Titabor, Assam, known across the state for his work in orchid conservation. What began as a personal passion to preserve Assam’s state flower, the kopou (foxtail orchid), has gradually grown into a recognised effort celebrated by many.
