Sitaram Shelar is a water rights activist and is a founder and convenor of the Pani Haq Samiti. For more than 20 years, he has worked with marginalised communities in Mumbai's informal settlements on issues related to local governance and access to safe and affordable water. Sitaram's work focuses on collective action, community participation, and ensuring that urban water governance reflects the voices and rights of those who are excluded from formal decision-making processes. He is also the founder-director of the Centre for Promoting Democracy and is a core committee member of the Hamara Shehar Mumbai Abhiyan.
