Women in Ghatampur’s brick kilns don’t have access to sanitary pads
Long and difficult working hours with limited breaks, combined with a meagre income, has worsened women’s health in Kanpur’s brick kilns.

Urmila Devi works in brick kilns alongside her family. She is an alumna of the Udaan fellowship, an initiative by Chambal Academy and Buniyaad. Urmila studied up to grade 10 before losing her right arm in an accident, which halted her education. She is from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
