Women farmers in North Garo Hills helped in expanding the scope of a livelihoods programme through innovative ideas and community networks.

In 2020, SeSTA started working with people in the villages of North Garo Hills district in Meghalaya with the aim of creating sustainable livelihoods. The mandate was to help poultry farmers, crop farmers, and micro-entrepreneurs in boosting production, setting up market linkages, and adopting scientific practices that allow them to increase their income in the long run.

It soon became a process of collaboration where people brought in fresh ideas and traditional knowledge to make the most of the support that was reaching them.

In this video, Hejilla Sangma, Laijish Sangma, Salche D Sangma, and Usha R Marak talk about using community networks to diversify their businesses and what they hope to achieve in the future.
