“We know that sugarcane needs a lot of water and that it is affecting the water table in my village. But what should we do? We get an assured income for the crop and we do not have to worry about the market. Yes, water is essential, but we can get more water as we tap more borewells and go deeper,” says a farmer from Osmanabad.
