Love or unpaid work? A tuition teacher’s dilemma
In rural Odisha, the role of women tutors in educating the community’s children is seen as an extension of their caregiving responsibilities, and not as paid work.
Itishree Behera is a student of applied psychology and is passionate about applying theory to practice. Having worked as an adolescent counsellor, Itishree is interested in adolescent health and behaviour. In 2018, as part of the India Fellow social leadership programme, she worked with the Milaan Foundation in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh as a career counsellor at their school. Currently, she works in the space of education and student counselling in her home state of Odisha, with the nonprofit, ThinkZone.
